Director’s Welcome
I am delighted to welcome you to Cornell. You will be joining a culturally rich community of students and faculty and staff members who hail from all parts of the United States. Students whose heritage is African American, Native American, Asian American, Hispanic American, Native American, and other bi-cultural and multicultural backgrounds collectively make up about 30 percent of the undergraduate population. Your class will bring an impressive array of talent, scholarship, service, and leadership that will continue to make Cornell a premier place for living and learning.
The Office of Minority Educational Affairs (OMEA) and the Committee On Special Educational Projects (COSEP) continue a forty-year tradition of providing the best of academic and student-related services. The OMEA encourages and facilitates retention and excellence in academic achievement, commonity service, and leadership skills. The established network of administrative staff and faculty members, peer counselors, tutors, and mentors, as well as other campus resources, ensures your opportunity for success at Cornell. We are happy to provide the advice and counsel you seek.
Sincerely,
—Raymond A. Dalton, Ph.D., Executive Director
